Trisha
Instructor / Trainer / Virginia EMT
Trisha, the owner of Medic Response Health & Safety, LLC started taking American Red Cross courses when she was 15 and was a rink guard at her hometown ice rink, where she provided first aid.
She worked for her family’s business doing front end sales, purchasing and ensuring the trucks carried proper first aid and safety supplies, She caring for employees’ injuries as well.
With her rescue appetite whetted, she took EMT classes later to expand her knowledge.
She later joined a fire and rescue department where she served for 25 years, including being an assistant Adjunct teacher for EMT classes. She was a member of the National Ski Patrol in Pennsylvania, starting as a paid patroller for five years and Pennsylvania EMT. As a volunteer patroller for 18 years, she took care of injured skiers and taught CPR for her patrol. She shared her knowledge with other patrollers as an Outdoor Emergency Care Instructor for the Eastern Division.
After several years of ski patrol and fire and rescue, Trisha joined the Shenandoah Mountain Search & Rescue Team and spent 17 years as a team member and was the EMS Officer and then the Operation Officer. In 2020 She has became a K 9 Hander for Wilderness Search and Rescue with her Standard Female Poodle.
She has been an adjunct instructor for the Virginia Department of Emergency Management for seven years. Additionally, she served 11 years as a ranger with the National Park Service at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. Across the Potomac River in Maryland, she serves as a PSAR ranger on the C&O Canal with a focus on emergency medical services and search and rescue.
Medic Response Health & Safety, LLC was formed in 1992 after Trisha lost a family member. Trisha has over 30 years in teaching and training in CPR, First Aid, Wilderness First Aid, Emergency Preparedness Training and building custom First Aid & Trauma kits. She has passionate to teach others how to be great instructors.
She currently teaches for American Heart Association as an Instructor Trainer and is a training center administrator. She also teaches for American Red Cross and American Safety & Health Institute as well as the Department of Homeland Security’s Stop the Bleed Program.
Mike
Instructor / Virginia EMT and Nationally Registered EMT
Colonel (Retired) Michael “Gunner” Rose was first certified in American Red Cross First Aid in 1970. Throughout his Boy Scouting to reach Eagle and then during his US Army career of 30 years he has taught Emergency Preparation and Medical Response classes around the globe. He has served in more than 40 countries in both peace and war.
He is certified for numerous Special Operations skills including Ranger and Military Freefall (HALO). He is also qualified as Master Parachutist (Airborne), Master Diver, Virginia Emergency Vehicle Operator Course, and Swift Water Rescue. He has participated in numerous disaster response and recovery operations including Hurricane Andrew, flooding in Mostar, Bosnia- Herzegovina, floods in Laos and Cambodia, and operations in Haiti, Argentina, Brazil, Zaire, Zimbabwe, Somalia, Eritrea and Ethiopia.
This past 12 years he volunteered with a local rescue squad as an EMT and CPR instructor. Currently certified as EMT, instructor for the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, and the American Health & Safety Institute. He continues to teach at home and abroad in cooperation with various Non-Governmental Organization (NGOs) such as recent trip to Honduras with local church missions.
Bill
Instructor / Virginia EMT and Nationally Registered EMT
Bill is certified as a Virginia and National EMT, and an AHA and an ARC instructor. In addition to teaching classes, Bill volunteers as an EMT and EVOC instructor for Shenandoah National Park, an EMT for Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, and as a search team member for Shenandoah Mountain Rescue Group. In recent years he has also worked at the Northern Virginia Community College, Medical Education Campus, providing course-content tutoring and certification examination strategies to EMS students, and was employed as an EMT for a medical transportation company. Earlier in his career, he was an advanced life support provider as a ranger in Shenandoah National Park.
Bill is retired from a 28-year federal law enforcement career which began with NPS and concluded with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Some years later, he retired again from a shorter career as a senior compliance officer for a global bank. At his retirement from government service, Bill held the rank of senior executive in the role of Director of the Office of Professional Responsibility for a DHS agency. In between government service and the financial industry, Bill was appointed by the Supreme Court of Virginia as the supervisory magistrate for the four-district Northern Virginia region. He has also taught criminal justice courses at a local college, and was a training instructor in both government service and private industry for many years.
Bill holds a JD degree and a BA in Education.
Steve
Instructor / Pennsylvania EMT
Steve’s involvement with emergency-care training began in 1970, when, as a college student, he attended summer classes to become a volunteer instructor for the American Red Cross. Back in school, he taught First Aid to the resident assistants at Northwestern University as well as community classes in Evanston, Illinois.
After moving to Wilmington, Del., Steve became certified to teach classes in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and joined a volunteer fire department where he was certified in firefighting and being an ambulance attendant.
After moving to northern Virginia in 1982 to help launch the national newspaper USA TODAY, Steve joined another fire department and became certified as an Emergency Medical Technician. Working with USA TODAY’s human resources department, Steve began training corporate employees in CPR and First Aid while continuing his duties as a volunteer member of the National Ski Patrol.
In the mid-90s, Steve worked as a contractor for the American Red Cross, working with two other writers to update the ARC’s Emergency Response book and curriculum to ensure it followed guidelines of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Since 2000, he has volunteered at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, where he is a summer EMT. He has also become certified in Accident Scene Management training, a special training program for motorcyclists to help them care for downed riders until first responders arrive.
He is proud of the teaching he now does for Medic Response Health & Safety, where he has taught classes for several years.
Chris
Instructor / Trainer / Paramedic
Chris began his career in Emergency Medical Services while he was in high school working towards his EMT-Basic certification. Chris volunteered his time for over 10 years to multiple EMS agencies as well as working on the ambulance Full-Time. His passion for helping others is infectious. Chris has worked his way to become a Virginia EMT-Intermediate.
In 2010, Chris first became certified to teach CPR and AED. He has shown a passion for teaching and makes course material easy to understand. In 2012, he opened Code Blue 4U in Virginia Beach, VA. As the Training Center Admin for Code Blue 4U, Chris stays with his passion to teach BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Heartsaver Courses using the American Heart Association curriculum. In 2019, Chris added the American Red Cross curriculum to Code Blue 4U.
Code Blue 4U is a sister site to Medic Response Health & Safety. Chris does travel to Chantilly, VA, to teach our ACLS & PALS courses. You will be sure to have a very informative and relaxed class with Chris.
Ian
Instructor
Ian is a member of the Liberty Mountain Ski Patrol and the National Ski Patrol. He is a certified Outdoor Emergency Care Technician. Ian is also a certified CPR instructor with the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross.
In addition to teaching and providing emergency care, he is also a principal at JG Realty, Inc., a commercial real estate development company located in Washington, DC. He has worked for a number of financial and real estate companies including: Neyer Holdings, Inc., Lehman Brothers, Arthur Andersen, and Cushman & Wakefield de Mexico. Ian received his MBA from Georgetown University and his undergraduate degree in finance from Miami of Ohio University. Ian spent two years living in Mexico and is highly proficient in Spanish. His other interests include writing, backcountry ski touring, rock climbing, biking and yoga.
